GPA Interim Leader / Permanent Leader Candidate

Dear Party members,

I am writing to you again as your candidate to become the next Permanent Leader of the Green Party of Alberta. This is my last message of the leadership campaign. Next weekend, member voting starts.

Key Areas of Concern and Focus

Within my first statement that described the five overall areas of concern impacting our Party, I have this week continued work on developing solutions to address the challenges of: (1) reduced public communication and engagement; and (2) minimal systematic retention of certain institutional knowledge and/or information. This particular work has been conducted for the purposes of expanding our Party’s capabilities to: (1) efficiently collect information shared by the public; (2) raise public awareness about our Party; and (3) communicate through audiovisual media.

Latest Actions Taken

I recognize the important role of audiovisual media in the modern day and how it serves as a powerful tool for connecting representatives and content creators with an audience. This is why I have taken the time to start familiarizing myself with the various software and equipment that are important for audiovisual media production. I am personally seeking to further develop our Party’s capabilities for generating and broadcasting videos across social media platforms.

On a separate note, some progress has been made this week to generate online surveys for the purposes of: (1) collecting non-personal data that would be later used for policy, opinion, and communications research; (2) engaging the public by offering a means to express opinions with us efficiently; and (3) functioning as an additional tool for canvassing. The development of this capability is important to enabling the collection of precise data that will further inform research and expand our understanding of Albertans' interests down to an Electoral Division level. Additionally, such a capability will allow us to demonstrate our Party’s interest in receiving feedback, opinions, and suggestions from Albertans, while also providing the public a streamlined means to share their thoughts with us.

This work is crucial to the development of our Party’s capabilities, and when ready, it will greatly improve our ability to communicate and engage with the public. Until next week’s missive, you can learn more about me by checking out my latest social media.
