Parents for Choice in Education (parentchoice.ca) is an Alberta-based, non-profit organization that supports Alberta students by advocating for excellence in education through maximum parental choice.
The following questions are being provided to candidates across Alberta to inform voters on key educational issues for the May 29th election. We have grouped the questions into the four areas that affect parental choice in education: Selection, Curriculum, Funding, and Parental Authority.
Link to the questionnaire: https://forms.gle/iSND1Uq17u9Eo2Sg7
Please record your responses in the Candidate Response Form below, answering with “Yes”, “Somewhat" or “No” to each question.
We expect that candidates who respond with “Somewhat” to any of the questions will provide the nuance of their answer in the “Additional Comments” section.
Responses will be published on our website (https://www.parentchoice.ca/alberta_election_2023) and shared through our mailing list and social media to thousands of voters who are highly engaged in the area of education. We will also distribute responses to other groups to share with their networks.
Deadline to submit responses is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19th, 2023. Candidates who receive the survey, but choose not to respond will be noted publicly.
Thank you for your participation and we look forward to hearing from you soon. -
Samara Sinclair commented 2023-04-03 16:06:19 -0600Hi Jonathan! My name is Samara Sinclair and I’m Carewest’s Manager of Communications and Marketing. I’m reaching out to you proactively, as the provincial election is fast-approaching and we are beginning to receive requests from candidates to visit our care centres to conduct campaign activities. During the campaign period, we ask all candidates running in the provincial election to refrain from visiting our care centres. Because we are a publicly funded organization, there are sensitivities around the use of our care centres as the background for any political activities during an election period.
While we do not allow campaigning at our sites, we would be happy to receive any campaign literature from your office and put it on display for the residents and clients to access and read at their leisure. If that’s what you’d like to do, please drop off your materials at the front reception desk at any of our care centres in your riding and address it to the site’s Administrative Secretary. They will ensure your materials are displayed.
Let me know if you have any questions or need more information.
Thanks for your cooperation!
Samara Sinclair, she/her
